DRAWING DREAMS
Have you ever drawn a house for yourself? Probably as a child you drew one—maybe it was simple, a square with a door and windows, a peaked roof and a smoking chimney; or possibly it was more like a castle or a palace—turreted, grand, and elegant? It may have looked like something you had seen or visited with your parents—or maybe it was your grandmother’s house. Creating imaginary houses is something we do throughout our lives. They may become larger, or smaller or more specific as we grow older, but almost always we imagine living in them—what our lives would be like, what we would do in the different rooms, how they would feel. The very expression ‘dream house’ comes from this. Some of us are even lucky enough to get to build those houses one day…
Our company exists to draw those dreams into reality. Drawing and painting are acts of imagination, and through the process of making them, we are able to represent to our clients the houses they have dreamed about. The first sketches and drawings we make always work to capture the essence of these dreams. Our design process—during which we draw and paint constantly from beginning to end—gives us the ability to share with our clients this evolving dream, until the dream, through the drawings, has become a built reality. When a client says “this house that you drew is the one I have been dreaming of…” or “the house you built me feels exactly like the first drawing you made for me” our clients are confirming the very philosophy by which we work. Drawing and painting by hand is the time honored tradition of bringing imaginary buildings into the world—and it is the tradition on which our design practice is built. Our art is turning our client’s dreams—through our drawings—into beautiful buildings in which they can live the lives they have imagined.
